After a twenty-year journey from patent and trade mark trainee to Managing Partner, since 2021 David has had the combined responsibility of leading the firm and running the team that supports Appleyard Lees’ largest client.

David completed a master’s degree in Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, the breadth of that qualification being well suited to work in analogue and digital electronics, covering sectors such as video and audio coding, digital electronics, optical storage media, and content delivery and networking.  In addition to patent drafting and prosecution work on the electronics side, David has been involved in numerous disputes over infringement of rights in patents and designs.
