As a chartered UK and European Patent Attorney Freya helps clients to protect their innovations in the chemical field. Her experience from previously working in technology transfer helps her to understand client’s priorities.
Freya works with a diverse range of clients, from large multi-nationals to universities and SMEs, providing patentability advice, drafting patent applications, prosecuting patent applications in the UK, Europe and worldwide and managing large international portfolios. Freya also has experience in handling opposition and appeal proceedings at the European Patent Office as well as advising on patent infringement and validity matters and providing freedom to operate advice.
Freya specialises in drafting and prosecuting applications in the chemical field with a particular emphasis on inorganic chemistry, pharmaceuticals, polymer chemistry and medical devices.
Freya holds a first class Chemistry MSci degree from the University of Nottingham obtaining a prize for the best academic performance in her year.
She completed her PhD in Chemistry at the University of Nottingham which focused on the bioinorganic chemistry of molybdenum containing enzymes synthesising and analysing analogues of molybdopterin. Freya received a prize for the best thesis in her graduating year.
Before joining the intellectual property profession in 2012, Freya worked in technology transfer at the University of Nottingham. She obtained valuable experience of patenting and commercialising novel technologies; through supporting spin out companies, facilitating implementation of development funding and enabling interactions between universities and businesses.
