Ryan Newcombe

First-hand experience of highly technical, data-intensive research has provided Ryan with an acute understanding of the challenges faced by clients in developing their inventions.

With a background in physics and academic research, Ryan has a breadth of knowledge and skills that enables him to work across a diverse range of practice areas.  Ryan has a particular interest in the opportunities presented by machine learning and AI.

Having joined the profession in 2023, Ryan is progressing towards qualification and enjoys undertaking case work alongside his training for a broad range of clients.

Prior to joining the firm, Ryan obtained a PhD in particle physics from Imperial College London, where he undertook research as a member of the LHCb experiment at CERN.  His research involved applying a number of cutting-edge data analysis techniques, including machine learning algorithms, to search for new physical phenomena.  He also holds a first class master’s degree in physics from the University of Manchester
