Tom Gregory

Tom’s work is primarily focused on protecting innovation in the mechanical, engineering and electronics sectors. He also has valuable experience in computer-implemented inventions and software. Tom currently assists clients working in the fields of electronic consumer goods, defence and aerospace, autonomous vehicles, and medical devices.
His daily practice involves patent drafting, prosecution and opposition work. Tom’s considerable experience in patent drafting helps clients to obtain valuable patent protection, and he advises on patent filing strategies to suit business aims and budgetary requirements.
Tom also helps clients to obtain protection for their designs, in the UK, EU and internationally.
Tom graduated with a first class Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Manchester. In his final year project, he worked to characterise electron transport in solar cells, making use of a patented photoresist material. He particularly enjoyed modules relating to semiconductor and solid-state physics. He has also completed a number of courses in C++ programming and Machine Learning.
Tom is a member of the pro-Manchester Green Economy Committee, and is a co-author of the Appleyard Lees “Inside Green Innovation: Progress Report”.
